With routines thrown out the window, I have certainly been partaking in visual media more than usual. I’ve also been reading a lot, so there is a healthy balance. Of course, with two little guys at home, it’s hard to get the time to watch or do what I want, but that’s okay. They need the escape too.
Here is what I’m currently up to (outside of books).
Currently Playing: Animal Crossing
While I haven’t been as fanatic about it as the first couple of months after release, I still hop on when I can find the time. Luckily, I got my seven-year-old son hooked on it as well, so our villagers are not neglected. He doesn’t care about leaving trash around the island though, so that’s always fun to pick up when I log on. It was all worth it when Bertha nicknamed me “butterbean.”
Off-screen, I am playing Cyberpunk Red with my husband and a couple of friends. He is the DM, and it’s fun to get into role-playing again. We play once a week through Google Meet, and hopefully one day we’ll be able to get back to seeing each other face-to-face. It’s definitely a genre that I’ve never role-played in before, but I am having a blast being a cybernetic-enhanced soldier.
Currently Watching: Cursed
Only two episodes in, but I am enjoying it. It’s hard for me not to enjoy a series set in a fantasy world. The acting is good, and I always enjoy Authurian legends, so it will be fun to see how this one plays out. Hopefully I can just binge it this week.
Currently Listening: folklore
Since movie theaters aren’t a thing right now, I’ve changed up this section. I don’t get to listen to new music often (kids songs are on repeat in the car), so it was exciting to find the time to listen to Taylor Swift’s new album. I appreciate that the songs are so low-key, and I find them stuck in my head quite often. I’ve always had a very eclectic music style (I love rock, pop, rap, folk, etc.), but this album is pulling me to my folk interests.
What are you watching? I’d love some more recommendations in the comments below, especially if you have any indie folk artists you enjoy.
